WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA
Western Pennsylvania produced some of
the best player's in sports, but also has produced
some of the best musicians as
well.
Aliquippa-West Aliquippa, Ambridge, Beaver Falls,
New Brighton, Beaver, Rochester, Monaca, Freedom, Baden, Sewickley, Coraopolis, McKees Rocks to name a few
places where we would travel to listen to the "Rock and Roll,Rhythm and Blues, Oldies and DooWop Music". We
would dance and have a good time. Not to forget downtown Pittsburgh, Carnegie, Homestead, Mt Lebanon, Bethel
Park, South Park, McKeesport and Whitehall to name a few more.
Rock and Roll Dance Halls like Lebanon Lodge, White Elephant, Linden
Grove, Danceland-West View Park, Red Rooster, Wildwood
Lodge, Red's Beach, Teen Scene and Harry's Danceland were all first class dances that would have top DooWop
artist's appearing from time to time. There was no end to dance halls, bars and nightclubs to listen to great
Oldies and dance the night away.
The
Music Recording Artist's you are about to hear below are Pittsburgh's own Skyliner's, the acappella version was recorded a few nights before the final
record of "Since I Don't Have You" was made. After the studio version was cut at Calico Records with Lennie
Martin and The Orchestra, the Skyliners drove down from Pittsburgh and sang at a local Beaver Valley Hall Dance. The spotlight shown onto the balcony
as the young recording artists stood ready in front of the microphones and the DJ announced that it was the
Skyliners first appearance since recording Since I Don't Have You.
The entire dance floor of teenagers stood, watched and
listened to one of the greatest songs of our time
"Since I Don't Have You" sung by
Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliner's
It was truly a "Moment to Remember" and a time I will never
